1. Topic in nutrition that interests me:
I'm particularly interested in plant-based diet nutrition. I've been trying to do a more plant-based diet and had tried complete plant-based diet for a period. I would like to understand more about the nutrition for the non-meat ingredients so that I don't have to compromise the dishes I am able to make. In that way, the plant-based diet will be easier for me to implement.
2. Whether nutrition will play a more important role in the culinary industry
In my opinion, the nutrition will play a more important role in the culinary industry as the customers care more and more about what they consume and how would that impact their health. When eating in a restaurant is not only about enjoying the meal, but also a “healthy meal”, the nutrition aspect will have to be taken into consideration by the restaurants.
3. Credible and not credible nutrition website and three ways of determining credibility
Credible nutrition website: Canada’s food guide
Less credible nutrition website: Calorie King (https://www.calorieking.com/us/en/)
Credibility can be told from (1) whether the website is supported by the government. If it is, you can assume the credibility should be higher (2) whether there’s commercial aspect or whether the website is trying to sell products. In this case, the information could be somewhat biased (3) qualification of the authors: not specified in the “Calorie King”
